The botulinum toxin is injected with a tiny needle into the muscle; you should see the benefits develop over the next two to seven days. A decreased appearance of frowning or creasing of other lines will be the result of the treatment.
FDA has approved Botulinum toxin for excessive underarm sweating and glabella lines and migraines. It has also been approved to treat other facial lines, horizontal lines on the forehead, crow’s feet, bunny line etc.
Serious or immediate hypersensitivity reactions have been reported. These reactions include anaphylaxis, urticaria, soft tissue edema, and dysphagia.
- Onset of action is in about 10 days (may be earlier or later to take effect)
- Peak effect may not occur for 30 days depending upon the site of injection and medication used
- Average duration of moderate improvement is up to 90 days which means 1-3 months at maximum. The Xeomin and Dysport information sheet states the median onset of effect occurs 7 days after injection. Typical duration of effect of each treatment is up to 3 months, however the effect may be shorter or longer.
- Crow's feet tend to wear off faster than the other regions of the face
- We strongly recommend a follow-up visit in 14 days to access the effectiveness
