Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments use a patient’s own blood to promote natural healing and tissue regeneration. By concentrating platelets—cells rich in growth factors—PRP can be injected into targeted areas to support recovery from injuries, reduce inflammation, and stimulate collagen production. PRP is a safe, minimally invasive option with little downtime.
Post-Op Instructions for PRP
Depending on the area of your face or body being treated, the procedure is well-tolerated and in some cases virtually painless, feeling only a mild prickling sensation. Your skin will be pink or red after treatment, like a sunburn for a few hours after. Minor bleeding and bruising are possible.
Do not touch the treated area with unwashed hands! The micro-channels made by microneedling can stay open for 48 hours.
Day 1 - Day of Procedure
- 1 hour post procedure: please wash your hands and apply one or two drops of hyaluronic acid serum to the treated area. You may use HA serum as much as you’d like
- Before you go to bed, change your pillowcase to a fresh one. Sleep with PRP on your skin
Day 2
- Wash your face upon waking and applying HA serum liberally, repeat this as many times as you’d like today
Day 3
- You may return to your normal skincare routine today. We advise Vitamin C serum and HA serum followed by a moisturizer of your choice
The side effects are minimal and can include minor flaking or dryness of the skin with scab formation in rare cases. Milia (small white bumps) may form; the practitioner can remove these. Hyperpigmentation can occur very rarely and usually resolves after a month. Temporary redness and mild sunburn effects may last up to 4 days. Freckles may temporarily lighten or permanently disappear in treated areas. Crusting, itching, discomfort, bruising, infection, swelling, and failure to achieve the desired result may also occur.
